Bornella Fabrics are sponsoring #SewUpcycle24
Sustainability is front and centre of Bornella Fabrics, so with that in mind, I am delighted to be sponsoring #SewUpcycle24 for another year. Making use of what we already have is always the most sustainable option, so refashioning and upcycling existing fabric, with a little bit of creativity thrown in for good measure, is a great challenge.
The challenge is hosted by Becky (@notes_from_the_sewing_room) and Karen (@sew.little.time). There's a £25 Bornella Fabrics voucher up for grabs for one lucky winner.
The premise of this challenge is easy -
- Make an upcycled garment or bag.
- Use something other than new fabric.
- Include a before photo of what you've used.
- Reveal your garment on the 31st October
- Tag Becky (@notes_from_the_sewing_room) and Karen (@sew.little.time) to make your entry count with the hashtag #SewUpcycle24
Feel free to post little sneak peeks and updates throughout the month to share your progress with the hashtag #SewUpcycle24WIP
For full details, be sure to follow Becky and Karen on Instagram as there are a host of vloggers which will be posting content, tips, advice and progress on YouTube and their other socials.
Last year I upcycled an old RTW jersey dress from Gap that had been unworn in my wardrobe for at least 8 years. I made the Tilly and the Buttons Agnes top and I can honestly say it's one of my most worn makes. This year, I'm going to attempt to turn a couple of my daughters old denim jeans into a bag. She's 7 so they're pretty small and there isn't much useable fabric, but I'm going to get creative... watch this space!
Happy sewing,
Tanya xx
