#SewVintageSeptember 2021 sponsorship
We are delighted to announce that Bornella Fabrics will be sponsoring #sewvintageseptember this year. I entered as a participant last year and I'm delighted to be involved in this great challenge again for 2021.
So what is it?
Sew Vintage September is a month-long celebration of vintage sewing patterns and vintage fabric. Follow @sewvintageseptember and #sewvintageseptember on Instagram to see what the rest of the sewing community are making.
Sew Vintage September are aiming to be as inclusive as possible, and often 'true vintage' patterns are restricted in sizing. So participants are free to use repro vintage patterns or modern patterns to get a vintage look.
Customers can get 20% off sitewide at Bornella Fabrics with the code SEWVINTAGE20 until September 30th. We have some great retro prints so you can go to town!
Here's my entry last year - the pattern is Maudella 5780 which my Mum picked up from a charity shop but had sat languishing in my 'one day...' pattern pile. I'm pretty sure it dates from the 1960's. I made a toile, which was a very good job as I ended up shortening everything - torso, sleeves, skirt - as it was all far too long. It was almost a maxi dress... I know I'm short but not THAT short! But it actually fitted my bust so there's a bonus. I also reduced the width of the arms as they were far too wide compared with the pattern picture. I was really pleased with how the final dress turned out and makes me smile when I open my cupboard. Sewing a vintage pattern had always been a dream of mine since I was a teen and I'd finally done it.
I'll be joining in again this year and already have my pattern lined up... spoiler alert, it's another Maudella!
Happy sewing!!
